Inktio prints light-activated sheets that make cleaning wastewater with natural sunlight easy and practical.
Instead of using expensive UV lamps, we print light-activated sheets that plug directly into existing water ponds. Using natural sunlight, our sheets continuously break down tough pollutants as a final cleaning step, making industrial wastewater safe to reuse or return to nature. Our solution is specially tailored for hard-to-treat water streams, like those in the mining and oil & gas sectors.
Key characteristics and environmental benefits
- Visible/Solar Light Active: eliminates power consumption from energy-heavy UV lamps, widely used in UV-disinfection systems.
- Fixed Active Surfaces: by locking the catalyst onto flexible sheets, our technology eliminates the need for expensive powders, prevents material loss, and removes the costly post-treatment filtration required to recover the catalyst.
- Printable & Modular Design: instead of relying on loose powders, we developed a light-sensitive printable ink that can be applied using standard Roll-to-Roll machines, leveraging the massive scale and low cost of the packaging industry to create deployable active surfaces for water cleaning.
- Pollutant break-down: breaks down toxic molecules and bacteria into harmless basic compounds, destroying pollution permanently instead of trapping it in filters or shifting it into toxic sludge, all without the high cost of UV lamps or complex filtration steps.
