Product description

MycoFILL (alongside MycoFIBER and MycoFOAM) is a mycelium-based raw-material additive produced by Mycocycle’s proprietary fungi remediation process.

Waste streams like asphalt shingles, drywall, foam, carpet, and crumb rubber are loaded into a mobile incubation unit (MyContainer) and combined with fungal mycelium. Over approximately 10–14 days, the fungi colonize and detoxify the substrate, breaking down toxic compounds including PFAS, PVC, and hydrocarbons by up to 98%.

The resulting mycelium-embedded composite is deactivated and ground into an inert bio-based filler powder. MycoFILL can replace traditional petrochemical fillers and additives in plastics, composites, insulation, and building materials. It has been incorporated into consumer-grade polypropylene and HDPE compounds used in automotive parts, pallets, and commercial flooring, and serves as sustainable infill in turf and playground applications.

MycoFILL offers performance benefits (fire, water resistance, durability) without cost premium, while cutting CO₂ emissions by more than 98% in certain supply chains. Available and margin-positive in commercial pilots with partners like Tarkett, MycoFILL is ready for broader industry adoption via licensing or off-take agreements.

Key characteristics and environmental benefits

Key characteristics:

  • Patent-pending mycoremediation using proprietary “Mike 1”/“Mike 2” fungal species

  • 10–14 day incubation in climate-controlled MyContainer units

  • Broad waste compatibility: shingles, drywall, PVC, foam, rubber, carpet

  • MycoFILL powder is fire- and water-resistant and inert

  • Applicable as filler/additive in plastics, composites, insulation, turf

Environmental benefits:

  • Reduces toxicity up to 98% (e.g., PFAS, hydrocarbons)

  • Diverts hard-to-recycle waste from landfills/incineration

  • Lowers CO₂ footprint by >98% in treated material supply chains

  • Supports circular economy by converting waste into useful raw materials

  • Scalable modular approach reduces transport and processing emissions

About the Company

Mycocycle, Inc. is a biotech startup repurposing fungi to remediate industrial and construction waste. By deploying proprietary white-rot mushroom species, the company incubates waste in modular “MyContainer” systems, transforming once-toxic materials—like asphalt shingles, drywall, carpet, foam, and crumb rubber—into mycelium-infused raw-material products: MycoFILL, MycoFIBER, and MycoFOAM. These bio-based fillers and composites are fire- and water-resistant, lightweight alternatives to traditional plastics and petrochemical additives. Mycocycle excels in reducing toxicity up to 98%, lowering greenhouse gas emissions, and promoting a circular-materials economy. The company holds strategic partnerships with industry leaders such as Tarkett and the U.S. Army, has treated over 132,000 lb of waste, and is scaling operations in Illinois and Georgia with active Series A fundraising
