The Idea Behind Atmospheric Water Is Older Than You Think

Most people think Atmospheric Water Generators (AWGs) are a modern invention.

They're not.

The idea is as old as civilisation itself.

Long before electricity existed, people living in some of the driest places on Earth understood that the atmosphere could provide water. Ancient cultures collected dew from rocks and vegetation, while communities in places such as the Canary Islands and parts of South America harvested water from fog using natural vegetation and simple structures.

Nature has always demonstrated one important fact: the air contains water. In fact, Earth's atmosphere holds around six times more water than all the rivers on the planet combined*.

Modern Atmospheric Water Generators haven't invented a new source of water—they've simply developed a reliable way of accessing one that has always existed.

Using refrigeration or desiccant technologies, today's AWGs capture water vapour from the atmosphere, purify it, and produce safe drinking water for homes, businesses and communities.

Perhaps the most exciting part is that Earth's atmosphere is constantly replenished through the natural water cycle.

Innovation doesn't always mean creating something entirely new.

Sometimes it means improving what nature has been doing all along.

💡 AWG Fact

At any given moment, Earth's atmosphere contains approximately 12,900 km³ of water, while rivers hold about 2,100 km³
