Product description

EXTRAQT offers a comprehensive aquathermal solution that combines cutting-edge technology with eco-conscious practices to provide sustainable heating and cooling solutions for heritage and communal buildings. The process begins with digital-twin-based thermal modeling of surface water bodies to assess heat extraction potential within regulatory limits. Based on this modeling, district-level or building-specific master plans are created, followed by the design and implementation of closed-loop heat exchanger installations using multiQ technology.

The systems work by circulating water through heat pumps, drawing ambient thermal energy from rivers, ponds, or lakes at around 8°C. This innovative approach eliminates the need for underground drilling, minimizing temperature impact to less than 1°C. The installed systems have been successfully implemented in heritage sites like amphitheaters and castles, as well as communal buildings such as the Soest children's farm in the Netherlands and Annevoie castle in Belgium.

EXTRAQT's turnkey service includes feasibility studies, design, monitoring, and installation coordination, ensuring a seamless and efficient process for their clients. By providing resilient, low-emission heat for local communities, this solution is ideal for cities, municipalities, and NGOs managing heritage or community infrastructure.

About the Company

EXTRAQT is a Belgian cleantech engineering firm founded in 2021, focused exclusively on aquathermal energy for heating and cooling. Based in Leuven, the team models thermal potential from surface waters—rivers, lakes, canals—using digital twins and feasibility tools, then engineers closed-loop heat pump installations. They guide municipalities, governments, and project developers from potential scanning and master planning through technical design to delivery. Projects include aquathermal installations for heritage sites, commercial buildings, and district heat systems across Belgium and Europe. By extracting sustainable thermal energy from water bodies with minimal ecological impact, EXTRAQT supports local energy transitions and CO₂ reduction strategies. Their expertise is rooted in scientific modeling combined with project implementation, enabling scalable, low-impact, and community-aligned thermal solutions.
